What You Can Do:
4-Step Guide to Make Sure Your Views are Heard

Achieving a successful outcome is all about consulting with and informing stakeholders so that they can have a say in the development of new legislation. A project team will be available to gather comments and advice from all those who may be affected, answer questions, and develop a new approach to Aboriginal heritage management and protection in Tasmania.

There are a number of ways to make sure your voice is heard during the project. To become part of this significant initiative, we invite you to take these important steps:

Step 1) Register Your Interest
If you use, own or have an interest in land then the development of new Tasmanian Aboriginal heritage legislation may affect you. Make sure your views are heard by contacting our office to have your say, either as an individual or through your industry body or community group. We will ensure that your views are considered.

Step 2) Education
In response to consultation with people who are interested or affected by the project, discussion material on a range of topics affecting new legislation will be produced. You can get a copy of this material from the Aboriginal Heritage Office. Stakeholders will be kept informed of progress through regular mail-outs and newsletters.

Step 3) Briefing Sessions
Briefings and meetings with individuals and stakeholder groups will be held state-wide over coming months to gather stakeholder views on the development of new legislation. These forums will be held throughout the duration of the project.

Step 4) Stay Involved
To stay informed please visit our web site (www.tahl.tas.gov.au), or register for mail-outs and newsletters by contacting the Aboriginal Heritage Office.
